cucumber + hemp anticellulite after-shower oil
As spring is now here, many of us are starting to think about sunny weather, lighter layers of clothing, pools and beachside days, and oh—yeah, shorts and swimwear. And for most of us women, that means those little dimples our skin gets blessed with (that are much cuter on babies than ourselves) are going to be visible.
I’m giving this body oil a try since my experience with Florida spring weather this year feels much more like the summers in the Midwest before we moved. My dimples, sadly, aren’t shy, so I thought it high time to encourage them to shy AWAY with some nourishing plant oils and essential oils.
I put this together on the fly, so I don’t have proper percentages for you, but this should still be super simple to whip together. I took advice and inspiration from Valerie Ann Wormwood‘s books “The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy.” It’s amazing you guys. A great resource for the whole family, covering everything from teething to colds to beauty to menopause. She has a section on cellulite, so the essential oils used here are a few she recommends. I will add a few at the end of this post that you might try for substitutions if you do not have the oils in my recipe.
CUCUMBER + HEMP ANTICELLULITE BODY OIL
2 T coconut oil (local grocery or health food store)
2 tsp hemp oil (local health food store)
1 tsp cucumber seed oil (Eden’s Garden)
8 drops basil linalol or rosemary essential oil
6 drops thyme linalol essential oil
10 drops grapefruit essential oil
4 drops juniper berry essential oil
2 drops geranium essential oil
Blend all together. Store in a bottle, date and label. You may message this oil into your skin before bed, targeting the desired areas. When citrus oils are used avoid direct sunlight.
Dry brushing can also be very effective as it increases the blood‘s circulation and encourages lymph drainage. Use gentle upward movements all over the body. I like to do this in the morning before I take a shower. I find it helps me wake up in morning, so I don’t feel so groggy!
Thank you for reading, and if you give this luxury body oil a try, let me know! 😊
